In the picturesque ski resort of Pyeongchang, South Korea plays host to the XXIII Winter Olympics. As the opening ceremony of these quadrennial games commences, thousands cheer the pageantry. A colorful parade of athletes hug, wave flags and take smiling selfies. Billions more from across the globe are glued to their televisions, laptops, smartphones and tablets.
A few kilometers north of the famed Demilitarized Zone, a hostile and bellicose neighbor has been thrown into chaos by a failed assassination and a trail of plutonium that leads to these games; unleashing events that threaten to shatter the balance of power in East Asia, and beyond.
American, Chinese and Russian intelligence agencies are in a desperate race to unravel the plot that may pull them all into a nuclear Armageddon.
Ensnared in the middle of this intrigue, deception and espionage are two young lovers; aspiring Olympians that due to the quirks of history are compelled to compete for rival nations. These star-crossed athletes find themselves thrown together as unwilling pawns used by different masters to help uncover the truth behind the dangerous events unfolding around the games

IGNITED The Torch and Fuse Nuclear Terror at the Olympics edition by D A Borges Victoria Borges Susan Carberry Literature Fiction eBooks

D.A Borges' character interaction and narrative is refreshing. His book has a smooth, real life flow; not the spastic convoluted superhuman tripe so frequent in books of today. Not stuck in the same old genre, he breaks new ground with by exposing the Olympics for its true purpose - a international consortium of spies, lies, and profiteers. His character, Mikhail, demonstrates what happens
when a simple countryman seeks a higher purpose for Country and humanity and actually believes it.

While is main characters certainly engage in perfectly normal activities, D.A. Borges does not devolve into the graphic gratuitous sex in so many novels today and, as a result, his writing style harkens back to the best of Mr. Fleming; where he let your imagination fill in the details.

IGNITED The Torch and Fuse Nuclear Terror at the Olympics edition by D A Borges Victoria Borges Susan Carberry Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews

This story is well written, up to date politically, and almost so realistic as to make you wonder if it might not be a precursor of things to come. It could definitely be easily adapted to a screenplay in the genre of Ludlum and Clancy.
Great read
I love the interaction of the characters, the intrigue and the knowledge the author has of all these places.

Waiting for a sequel
This book moves with the speed of the modern 21st century flat world -- from one exotic geographic location to the next -- from Denver to Moscow to Pittsburgh to China to both Koreas and back again!
A compelling story that seems very plausible in this era of great power confusion and deadly determined terrorist actors! The interplay of both international figures and military-civilian characters operating in the framework of government bureaucracies was also realistic and well done.
An insider's view of contemporary "fictional" bureaucratic mayhem on three continents.

D. A. Borges handily weaves a plausible and credible alternate near-term present for our consideration and demonstrates how another singular actor can affect the world's future.

One wonders how Borges is able to vividly and correctly describe many locations around the globe as he weaves this intricate thriller....
This is a first-rate, up to the minute thriller that carries complete authenticity. Terror and nukes and athletes! What's not to like? The author clearly knows whereof he writes. He reminds me of Agency DDO personnel I have known. It almost makes me nervous to pick up the morning newspaper, from fear that some of this has come true. How long can the world dodge the bullet that is North Korea? Borges is so good, he's scary!
